STEWART HERITAGE FARM Brenda Hanes
After searching several years for a place to retire after my military career, I finally found a small acreage near Dayton, Ohio to call home. Shortly after purchasing the home, I discovered alpacas. To make a long story short, having been mesmerized by llamas many years ago, the alpacas stole my heart. After a bit of research, I purchased two bred huacaya females and a guard llama in 2004. Since then my herd has grown to a total of seven, with a few more on the way. My herd consists of Peruvian and Chilean bloodlines representing some of the best genetics in North America. Those bloodlines include Legacy, Black Magic, Silvio, Fire-n-Ice, Brutus, The Portland Kidd, and Leon. The goal of Stewart Heritage Farm is simple – to improve fiber quality with every breeding. My foundation females are exceptional quality alpacas with outstanding conformation. Each brings somewonderful fiber traits to the breeding mix. Herdsires are selected specifically to refine the fiber character and produce outstanding cria whether male or female. Although fiber quality is of primary emphasis, my herd is a colorful herd. Breeding selections include consideration for creating beautiful rich colors without compromising on fiber quality. My females are currently bred to some exceptional herdsires: El Padre, Sinopsis Nocturna, and Zeph’s Cormorant. I am expecting some very nice offspring this coming Spring. Stewart Heritage Farm is dedicated to maintaining high standards in breeding and animal husbandry, thereby contributing to the development of a high quality North American herd.
