MOUNT AMPATO ALPACAS Cheryl and Vern Ross Services: When we bought our first alpacas in 2002, we wanted an unusual but memorable name, one that would also reflect the South American heritage of the alpaca. We finally decided on Mount Ampato Alpacas, LLC, named after a volcano in the Andes Mountains of Peru, an area from which so many beautiful alpacas have come. While we certainly expect our herd to grow in size, we plan to remain small enough to be able to continue to provide individualized, hands-on attention to all of the animals on our farm. We pride ourselves on the relative ease with which most of our alpacas can be handled. We strongly subscribe to the Camelidynamics practices taught by Marty McGee Bennett in handling our alpacas. In fact, Cheryl is aCertified Camelidynamics Handler and an Apprentice Practioner. There's still much to be learned, but we're working on that everyday. We have been fortunate to work with alpaca owners from several farms who have been very helpful to us in establishing our farm, and we will provide the same assistance to our customers and friends. Currently, we are members of AOBA, OABA, AFCNA, ARI, ALSA, and a new organization, SWOAB (SouthWest Ohios Alpaca Breeders). Visitors are always welcome! Herd Makeup: |
